Brief chase ends in single-vehicle wreck on I-440 in Raleigh
A man was arrested early Tuesday after leading state Highway Patrol officers on a brief chase that ended with a crash on Interstate 440 near Hillsborough Street.

According to investigators, troopers attempted to stop a 2005 Chevrolet SUV for speeding near the Blue Ridge Road exit just before midnight. The driver, identified as Dominic Cooley attempted to flee from police, but the vehicle overturned and landed on the guardrail separating the eastbound and westbound lanes.
Cooley tried to run from the wreck, but troopers caught and arrested him. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, speeding, felony speeding to elude arrest, driving while license revoked and failure to maintain lane control.
A female passenger, identified as Christa Steadwell, was pinned inside the vehicle.
She and Cooley were treated at WakeMed for non-life-threatening injuries, and Cooley was later taken to the Wake County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond.
Troopers said Cooley was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for failing to report for post-release supervision.
All lanes of the highway were reopened at about 1 a.m.
