WILSON, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Monday night for a woman missing from Wilson.

Sharon Denise Braswell, 46, is black, stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen on Downing Street, police said.

Anyone with information about Braswell should call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
