Siler City, N.C. — Siler City police were searching Wednesday for 37-year-old Todd Joseph Wilkerson, who is believed to be cognitively impaired.
The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Wilkerson around 5:15 p.m. He was last seen at 475 Progress Blvd.
Wilkerson is white, with short, brown hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants, a blue or gray shirt, gray hat and red shoes.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 919-742-5626.
Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system quickly notifies the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.
It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
