The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert Tuesday afternoon for 14-year-old Ameia Clark, who was reported missing Monday night.

It wasn't clear how Clark was found.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

I know it's not by reading an alert news story..most likely it's the person who lost them or family/friends

It's never clear how any of these silver alerts and/or amber alerts are found :-(
