Raleigh, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Friday for a missing Pender County man.
James Doyle Coleman, 79, is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
Coleman is white, stands 5 feet 9 inches and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing black or gray jeans and brown boat shoes.
He was last seen driving a silver 1999 Buick LeSabre with North Carolina license plate MWA6702.
Anyone with information about Coleman should call Pender County Sheriff's Office at 910-259-1212.
Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.
It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
