HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — A Silver Alert was issued Monday night for a 16-year-old girl missing from Sanford.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons reported that Kikorra Siplen was last seen at the Econolodge on Parham Road in Henderson. She was wearing pajamas, Nike shoes and was carrying a bookbag.

Siplen is black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 215 pounds and has brown eyes and brown, medium-length hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office at 910-893-9111.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
