Silver Alert canceled for missing Dunn woman

Dunn, N.C. — Dunn police suspended their search Friday evening for a missing 50-year-old woman.
Felicita Perez was reported missing from a gas station on Cumberland Street Friday afternoon, but the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled its Silver Alert for her about 8:30 p.m.
It wasn't clear why the alert was canceled.
Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.
It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
