— The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert early Wednesday for a missing, endangered Cary woman, Cathy Rummage Burris, 47.

She is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Burris was last seen at 803 Carpenter Glenn Drive, and authorities believe she may be headed to Albemarle in a gold 2008 Saturn Vue with N.C. license plate YTH-1318.

Burris is 5 feet 2 inches, weighs 115 pounds and has blonde, shoulder-length hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information about her should call Detective Humphries at the Cary Police Department at 919-469-4012.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system that quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

MCI doesn't usually interfere with normal daily activities--driving ,shopping.

well, honestly, even if you take someone driver's license away, that won't prevent them from driving if they want to. even "sane" people who lose it due to drunk driving, still drive; even people with no insurance or no car will find a way if they want to.

My brother has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and he still has his driver’s license. I have no idea way this is, but it defiantly scares me. I worry about him driving every day.

"Anybody else find it a little odd that they issued a silver alert for a 47-year-old woman who may be suffering from DEMENTIA but still apparently has a driver's license? Something's a little fishy here.'

Yes, I DO; and I mention it on every story here about a silver alert when the alertee is DRIVING, and they have a possible destination. The best one was the one issued Memorial day weekend and the possible destination was the BEACH!

There are more people than you can know out there with mental illness, brain damage, mental retardation, etc. Most are like this woman. You can't tell from looking that they have these problems.

Nope sounds ok to me...maybe she is having a nervouse breakdown. She could have memory impairments or temper issues. There are a lot of thing out there we do not know about.
