Silver Alert issued for missing Benson man

— The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert on Thursday morning for a missing Benson man.

Robert Louis Stephenson is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Stephenson, 82, is described as a white man, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, with short white hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black leather jacket.

He was driving a white 1994 Ford Aerostar van with North Carolina license plate ZWX-3010.

Anyone with information about Stephenson's whereabouts is asked to call Master Sgt. Gary Whitman of the Benson Police Department at 919-894-2091.

    Maybe if you were the relatives of one of these challenged people you would understand better the challenges we face keeping them off the road.

    Awww, can't figure out how those who are mentally challenged get the keys to a vehicle, but understand it can happen.
