— The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Monday evening for a Robeson County man.

Clyde Purnay Hatcher Jr., 65, is white, stands 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has short blond hair and blue eyes and was last seen on Barley Green Drive in Lumberton wearing a T-shirt, light shorts and brown penny loafers, authorities said.

Hatcher was driving a 2003 navy blue Ford Explorer with North Carolina license plate number XNT-9841.

Anyone with information about Hatcher should call the Robeson County Sheriff's Office at 910-671-3100.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
