The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Friday for a missing Guilford County man.

Joe L. Graham, 72, is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Graham is black, stands 5 feet 7 inches and weighs about 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dress shirt with a vest and brown pants.

Graham was last seen at 1402 Wendell Ave. in High Point, authorities said, and could be headed to Philadelphia or Atlanta.

Anyone with information about Graham should call the High Point Police Department at 336-883-3224.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
