DUNN, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Wednesday morning for a 51-year-old woman missing from Dunn.

Frances Jamie Mareno is white, stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has black hair and blue eyes.

Dunn police say Mareno was last seen on North Ellis Avenue in Dunn wearing jeans, black boots, a long-sleeved T-shirt and black sweater.

She is believed to be driving a cream 1996 Lincoln Continental with North Carolina license plate SVS1471.

Anyone with any information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Dunn Police Department at 910-892-2345.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
