Erwin police were searching Monday night for a missing 44-year-old man who is believed to be cognitively impaired.

<b>ERWIN, N.C.</b> — Erwin police were searching Monday night for a missing 44-year-old man who is believed to be cognitively impaired.

Ronnie Mitchell Hair was last seen at 303 West E St. and police said he was believed to be walking north on South 15th Street. The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Hair shortly after 8 p.m.

He is described as white, with brown hair and blue eyes, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, dark pants and flip-flop sandals.

Anyone with information on Hair's whereabouts is asked to call police at 910-897-5122.

According to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer discovered the body of a man inside a vehicle at Hobbton High School's athletic field. Authorities believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
