Teresha Naomi Sarant, 38, is white, has medium brown hair and brown eyes. She is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds.
She was last seen on Camden Avenue in Durham wearing a white jacket, tan sweater, tan pants with a flower design and black shoes.
A photo of Sarant was not immediately available.
Anyone with information about Sarant should call the Durham Police Department at 919-475-2262.
Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.
It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
