The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Sunday night for a missing Sampson County woman.
Brittany Marie Ireland, 23, is white, stands 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 242 pounds. She has medium red hair, brown eyes and a birthmark on her left jaw.
A photo wasn't immediately available.
Authorities say Ireland was last seen at 3900 Roseboro Highway in Clinton and that she might have been traveling in a green car, possibly a Volvo.
Anyone with information about Ireland should call Sampson County Sheriff's Office at 910-592-1151.
Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.
It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
