Silver Alert

— The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for an Angier man at 2:48 p.m.

By 2:52 p.m., the alert for Raleigh Williams, 79, of 405 Circle Drive, was canceled.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

FOUR minutes from issuing the alert to cancellation???? Might be time to review the criteria for issuing one of these alerts. The bar seems to be pretty low to get a Silver Alert issued.
