Silver Alert canceled for missing Oxford man

— The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has canceled a Silver Alert for a missing Oxford man.

A Silver Alert was issued Thursday afternoon for Billy Joe Weaver, 47, who was believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Officials believed Weaver walked away from the Oxford Family Physicians office in Oxford at 11:10 a.m. Thursday.

The Silver Alert was canceled just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday. No additional information was available.

    I would love to know from each of those who actually found all the people involved in Silver Alerts just how important that Silver Alert actually was? I suspect that few, if any, Silver Alerts in North Carolina have actually had any bearing on whether the missing person was found.

    oh good grief, not again.
    it's like crying wolf time after time after time. yes they are missing, but you can NOT cry alert EVERY time some one goes bye bye. They just about always show back up.
    Hope this one does too, but come on already.
