CARY, N.C. — A Silver Alert was canceled Sunday for Gwendolyn Kay Robbins, 56, of 507 Yorktown Court in Chapel Hill.

Her daughter reported her missing Saturday, Investigator Tina Rimmer said.

Robbins, who has a cognitive impairment, was last seen by friends at the Comfort Suites, at Tryon Road and Ashville Avenue in Cary, on March 26, Rimmer said. Her husband last saw her two weeks ago.

She was located Sunday, authorities said.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system that quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
