The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert Monday for Alma Iris "Kara" Bartley, 17, of Durham, who disappeared in November.

The Durham County Sheriff's Office said Bartley was found safe but provided no other details.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

Uhavenoclu the article says she disappeared in November, and looks like the alert was just cancelled today. I'd say that's more serious than just being missing for an hour.

Why do they issue these things, then a hour or so later say they were found safe but never provide any other details?,was she out with her boyfriend who her parents didn't approve of??????????? Glad she is ok,
