Silver Alert canceled for Durham man

Posted July 6, 2011

— The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert on Wednesday for a Durham man.

The alert was issued June 24 for 69-year-old Leon Williams.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

These silver alerts are becoming so commonplace that they are taking away from the importance of the originally created Amber Alerts for the underage....
You see a Silver Alert almost every day now - then the adult turns up later that day, same ole, same ole.

these alerts are alrady pointless but if you insist on continously posting them I think a picture might help..also might help if you didn't post 5 a day..gets a little old
