Raleigh police arrested a teenager on Wednesday in connection to the death of a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week. According to the Raleigh Police Department, Mykia Daniel, an eighth-grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh Apartment. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released at the appropriate time.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has canceled a Silver Alert for a Chowan County woman.<br />

Mary Elizabeth Brown, 66, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, was found safe on Interstate 95 near Fayetteville, authorities said.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.<br />

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
