Silver Alert

— The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert Wednesday for a Cary teenager.

The alert for Sidney Leeann McEllwee, 16, was canceled at the request of the Cary Police Department.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

Was she found safely? The blog doesn't say. I hope she is o.k.
It would be nice when the authorities canceled the Alert, they would indicate the condition of the person when found; found and unharmed, found and receiving minor treatment etc..
