— Sierra Nevada rolled out its first shipment of North Carolina-brewed beer to the Triangle on Wednesday.

Some of the Sierra's Pale Ale and Torpedo Extra IPAs included were brewed at the new Mills River brewery in Asheville and sent to Mims Distributing in Raleigh.

Representatives for the Chico, Calif.-based company said the closer proximity to North Carolinians will help stop the carbon footprint that shipping the beer across the country left. They also said the beer will be fresher.

Enjoy most of the LoneRider entries and am hoping the NC version of New Belgium starts producing soon!

My favorite beer is their Torpedo IPA. 7.2 ABV is nice! Kelly, do you have any idea where the fresh batch is being shipped for sale?

Now if they could only make something good besides their pale ale.....

Try their porter or their stout. They make a lot of other beers, it's just that most of them don't make it to NC.

Absolutely! Love supporting local craft beer. Everything I have tried at Double Barley and Aviator has been excellent. Not to mention the staff at both breweries make you feel welcomed and you get to see exactly where your beer is coming from.

I've always been fond of their Celebration Ale. Just stinks that it's only available around Christmas time.

We should be supporting our local breweries: If people want good craft beer that is genuinely local hit up Deep River in Clayton, Double Barley in Smithfield, Aviator in Fuquay or Big Boss or LoneRider in Raleigh.

Hope they are sending some kegs this way. There is no QC on bottle beer once it leaves the brewery. Freight companies and grocery stores ruin bottle beer.
