RALEIGH, N.C. — After nearly two years on Glenwood Avenue, Shuckers Oyster Bar and Grill will be closing its doors. The venue will be transitioning to a catering and private event space.

Shuckers Catering and Events will open on Friday, owners Amy and Kevin Marksberry said Monday. The venue will be able to host parties and events for up to 300 people.

"Interestingly enough, it was our customers that really helped make the final decision for us," Kevin Marksberry said in a press release. "Customer demand for private events and catering has been outpacing our traditional lunch and dinner business at the downtown location. We knew we needed to change our model to better fit what customers wanted and needed from us."

Shuckers on Glenwood will continue to provide lunch and dinner serve through Thursday, Feb. 18.

Shuckers Oyster Bar and Grill in Wake Forest, which has been open for seven years, will remain open.
