RALEIGH, N.C. — Rain showers and thunderstorms rolled through central North Carolina Saturday afternoon, but sunshine is on the way.

Areas throughout the Triangle will see dryer conditions Sunday, but as the rain ends the heat begins.

Temperatures Sunday will climb into the 90s for what would be only the second time in July.

"We are expected to see temperatures in the 90s for the majority of the work week," said WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth.

Overnight Saturday storms will wind down, "but we can't rule out a light sprinkle," Wilmoth said. "A couple of isolated storms are possible Sunday, but they will be few and far between."

Conditions will dry out overnight Saturday from east to west.
