RALEIGH, N.C. — Rain showers will linger throughout the evening across central North Carolina as a cold front approaches the state.

Highs climbed into the mid-and upper-50s Saturday afternoon, but will drop back into the low 40's overnight.

Showers are possible early Sunday, but gradual clearing will start to happen during the late morning in the west and afternoon in the east.

"We do have some sunshine on the way, but we'll have to get through a very soggy Saturday first," Gardner said.

Highs Sunday will stay in the upper 40s, marking the beginning of another cool shot of air that will linger throughout the work week.

Highs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the upper 40s and low 50s, and overnight lows will return to the low 30s and even upper 20s.
