RALEIGH, N.C. — The sun should peak through the clouds by mid-day Friday, warming an otherwise chilly, breezy day, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

Light showers started the day over the eastern half of the state, but that system will continue offshore, leaving partly sunny skies behind, Gardner said.

Highs across central North Carolina will be in the 40s on Friday and again on Saturday, some pretty typical weather for the start of February.

Sunday will warm into the 50s with a chance for rain into the evening. Light showers could continue into Monday before skies clear again.
