Triangle gets short break from arctic air
Warmer air arrived in central and eastern North Carolina this weekend, offering some brief relief after a week of record-breaking cold temperatures and wintry precipitation.

"We are finally going to get away from the record-breaking cold, at least for a couple of days," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.
Clouds, sprinkles and rain showers will accompany the warmer air, making for a damp and grey weekend.
"No winter weather expected for us," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.
Early Sunday, two cold fronts combined and pushed through the state, generating rain showers.
"Showers will move to the east during the afternoon, but sprinkles are possible throughout the day," Moss said.
Highs Sunday will reach the low 50s, still about 5 degrees below normal for late February.
Behind the front, cooler air will return for the work week. Highs will be in the 30s both Monday and Tuesday, but overnight lows will be in the 20s instead of the teens and single digits.
The cooler air could bring a wintry mix to central North Carolina on Monday, but Wilmoth said "it should not be a big deal."
