— No one was hurt when shots were fired in the parking lot of Northgate Mall late Thursday afternoon.

Durham police said an off-duty sheriff’s deputy was responding to a disturbance in the parking lot just before 4 p.m. Shots were fired, and the deputy chased a man believed to be involved.

Devonte Keith, 20, of Glenbrook Drive, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, discharging a firearm within the city limits, carrying a concealed weapon, going armed to the terror of the public and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer.

Two other men, 19-year-old Alvis Gentry and 27-year-old Gerald Melvin – were arrested following the incident on outstanding warrants.

One vehicle was damaged.

More information was not immediately available.

Because they all look alike, right? What does your "ethnic thesis" have to do with this article? They caught the perpetrators almost immediately.

Hardly much anywhere there...... Ever been outside the city incorporated limits where all this stuff happens and into the county areas. I live out in the county on 20 acres and if any crime happens here its more likely a Wake county resident than a Durham one since Wake surrounds most of my back area. The city incorporated areas are bad but there are plenty of nice and safe areas in the county also. Been here 24 yrs and NEVER been a victim, seen a crime or even heard guns going off where I live by falls lake. Usually people doing the most bashing dont even live in or know the whole area of Durham but generalize it all by one centralized area. I have been a victim as well as a few friends victims of crime in N Raleigh though as well as Capital Blvd and downtown Raleigh. I guess all Raleigh/Wake is bad now too with the slew of shooting and murders this year also under same theory.
