— Someone fired a gun through the window of a patient treatment room at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center early Saturday morning, but no one was injured.

Police were called to the hospital, at 1638 Owen Drive, just after 2 a.m. on a report that someone was firing shots at the building. In a fourth-floor room occupied by a mother and child, they found evidence that a single round made it into the building.

Police said there was no reason to believe the hospital or those inside were in further danger, but they asked for help from the public in tracking down the shooter. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 910-433-1856.

Exactly it came from outside possibly even the parking lot who knows for sure but if they had security that did more patrolling on the outside instead of standing at the front door maybe someone could have spotted who or were it came from. Heck you would be suprised of the b&e's of vehicles in the parking lot that get away with it.

@southernboyth57 "Police were called to the hospital, at 1638 Owen Drive, just after 2 a.m. on a report that someone was firing shots at the building." What good are metal detectors going to do when the people firing the guns are OUTSIDE?

They could of had all the security they can afford but the shot came from outside the hospital. Probably off hospital property.

I think that cape fear needs to invest more into security (metal detectors, more security, security guards with firearms and training in using one) cfv would benefit more from this than the ceo getting his big annual pay increases, i mean what do they care more about, the safety of their many employees and patients, or how fat the ceo's wallet is. Southeastern regional in robeson county already has all of that and their crime rate is as high as cumberland county's
