CARY, N.C. — Recently I discovered a local family-owned business located in Harrison Pointe Shopping Center. Actually, it’s two businesses in one. A jewelry store and a boutique. Joint Venture Jewelry and Peachy Keen Boutique.

Joint Venture Jewelry

When you walk in, you’ll notice on your left Joint Venture Jewelry, a consignment jewelry store specializing in estate jewelry and modern one-of-a-kind pieces. It was established 18 years ago by wife Donna and jeweler husband Lee. They carry the largest selection of vintage jewelry in the Triangle.
I checked out every single case, starting with the vintage diamond rings, all the way up to contemporary styles. It’s a really great assortment spanning the last 100 years.
Engagement rings average between $2,000 - $4,000. If it’s a birthday gift or some other special occasion you’re shopping for, you can find something that ranges between $300 - $500. Among many others, you’ll find pieces by Cartier, Tiffany & Co. and David Yurman.

Interestingly, last week when I posted on Twitter about my visit to the store, a follower commented that she loves that store and got her engagement ring there. That's good to hear when former customers have glowing things to say about a business.

The store gets 30-50 new pieces in each month, so there is always something new to check out.

Tip: They offer layaway and 20 percent down and you have six months to pay it off without interest. They also do sizing and repairs and offer curbside assistance. Nice!
Traditional vintage to modern to unusual. I got a kick out of the wrench with diamonds lining the handle. Check out the animal collection of giraffe, tiger, dolphin and seal accoutrements.

On your right, you’ll see clothing, accessories, shoes and gifts. That’s Peachy Keen Boutique. It has been in operation for four years (see the bottom of the page for their 4th Birthday Party Celebration in August). Mom, Donna and daughter Karly shop together for the store. I couldn’t help but notice a very nice representation of styles, from youthful to mature fashions.

Sizes they carry range from extra small to extra large, at prices between $40 - $250 for their top denim and cocktail dresses at the high end. I noticed a nice variety of brands in clothing such as BCB Generation and Velvet by Graham & Spencer, TOMS shoes & eyewear and Liebeskind Berlin bags. Not to mention North Carolina-made Kenda Kist jewelry in their accessories nook.

Customer service is very personable, helpful and friendly. Oh, and if you hear barking in the store, it’s just the extended family members, their two adorable dogs. Don't worry if you’re not a dog person - they are in the office part of the store, not on the shopping floor.

Overall, the thing that stood out to me besides the well thought out selections of merchandise was how attentive and helpful the staff was. Whatever you’re looking for, they do their best to help you find it. You can also shop online via their website and create a wish list. Staff will compare it to what they have on-hand and match you up accordingly.

Tip: Need a stylist? They are happy to help put a look together for you.

Check out the sales corner in the back of the store as well as the sales racks in front of the store.

The main takeaway for me in regard to both stores is that they strive to understand the customer’s needs and do their best to match you up with what you’re looking for. They really want you to be happy with your purchase and to shop there again and again.
