Shooting reported near Durham VA hospital

Posted March 31, 2009

— A man was shot in the arm Tuesday afternoon as he drove in the neighborhood near the Durham VA Medical Center, a police spokeswoman said.

Durham police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said police believe the man, who was hit in the arm, was the victim of a stray bullet. His injury is not life-threatening.

Police responded to a call about shots fired in the area at about the same time.

The hospital was locked down for about 15 minutes as a precaution, according to a statement.

Quit whining...my thoughts exactly on the article. Shouldn't both hospitals be on lockdown?

it was behind the VA hospital, actually behind the Hock2 building. A pretty good walk to the VA or Main hospital.

Funny how it was near the VA and not "near" Duke University Hospital. You can throw a rock from the VA and hit Duke.
