Shooting on I-10 injures three, including a child

NEW ORLEANS, LA — The NOPD is investigating a shooting that took place on I-10 East at Read Boulevard involving three victims.

At about 5:22 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Officers later discovered that the victims in this incident had relocated to a residence in the 7100 block of Barrington Court.

Through investigation, officers learned that an adult male, adult female and a male child were traveling on I-10 East near the Read Boulevard exit when a vehicle pulled up next to them and opened fire.

The adult male suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and leg, while the female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and a 7-year-old child suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Upon sustaining gunfire, the victims' vehicle went off the road and through fencing, continuing on the service road and on to the Barrington Place location. NOPD and EMS then arrived at the location, with EMS transporting the victims to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive. No further information is available at this time.
