— The owner of the Mandarin Wok in Spring Lake was shot Wednesday evening during an attempted armed robbery, sheriff's deputies said.

Xiao Zhang was grazed by a bullet at his 247 Skyland Plaza restaurant and sustained non-life-threatening injuries at about 8 p.m., deputies said.

Paramedics transported Zhang to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.

They really need to get a police department. Otherwise, these crimes will continue until a life is taken and then what will Springlake do then?

Mayor Clark already has blood on her hands from that murder that happened at the doughnut store a couple weeks back.

We can all thank Mayor Clark for making Spring Lake the new Wild Wild West. She on repeated occasions disregarded the advice of many experts in telling her that her force was corrupt and that her chief had no leadership experience and that he lacked a backbone. She did nothing when this report came out. She did nothing when her force botched a death investigation and she did nothing when they were stripped of their police powers the first or second time. And now she had failed to secure a deal with CC sherifs department so they can allocate more officers to her town.
Mayor Clark the buck stops with you. You have been a diservice to the people of your community and you need to resign immediatly.

I used to live 2 blocks from there. This was back in 1999-2001. I dont think it was the most law abiding neighbourhood but I did feel safe there. Even had a 76 corvette parked in my driveway. I never had a breakin. Nowadays you couldnt pay me to live there. Fayetteville in General is dangerous.

Kimber - maybe the police there shouldn't have been so corrupt to require their removal. Ever hear of don't shoot the messenger? The media didn't do this, the police being a bunch of criminals did.

Plus, there was plenty of crime down there before the police were removed. This isn't new because they are gone.

I guess it's safe to say that things aren't going well for the Spring Lake Tourism and Visitors Bureau. Instead of a volunteer fire department it looks like these folks need a volunteer SWAT team. MP5 anyone?

Maybe all of the media outlets should not have told the criminals about the lack of police presence. The invitation was sent and is being answered.
