Shooter dies in Goldsboro murder-suicide

— A Goldsboro man died Tuesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said Derris Jamar Oates, 30, of 1401-B Dakota St., shot the mother of his two children Sunday before turning the gun on himself.

Officers responding to a report of gunshots found Oates outside a vehicle in the 800 block of Slaughter Street. Inside the car, they found the dead body of Tequilla Danyele Barrett, 26, of 915 Hugh St.

    According to the Goldsboro News Argus, Mr. Oates has died from his attempted suicide @ Pitt Memorial in Greenville.
