Shoe found in bear's stomach

Posted August 19, 2008

— Rangers in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are pretty sure they have caught the black bear that attacked an 8-year-old Florida boy and his father earlier this month.

After the attack was reported, rangers were charged by a bear in the same area. They shot that bear.

In the bear's stomach, mMedical examiners found part of a shoe matching those worn by John Pala. Pala had reported losing his shoes while trying to fight the bear as it attacked his son.

So long as the shoe didn't contain a foot then I guess the bear can eat whatever its little "sole" desires without "treading" on anyone's "toes" or being considered a "heel" that should be "laced up."
