— The sheriff in Iredell County says a father shot and killed his 3-year-old and 4-year-old sons before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators said the Shawn Fuller, 31, survived the self-inflicted wound early Sunday morning and was in surgery at a Charlotte Hospital.

Sheriff Darren Campbell says officers were called to the home near Statesville around 3:30 a.m. after reports of an intoxicated man firing a weapon. Authorities said the boys' mother ran from the home before the shootings to get help, but when she returned the children had been killed. Fuller was found on the front lawn, while the children were found in the living room.

The sheriff says the boys lived with their father and mother.

I didn't see where the NRA was mentioned in the article. I did see where the man was intoxicated. Interesting that when a drunk kills someone with their car no one calls for the ban of cars. I believe it's time to ban alcohol.

Yes, Domestic violence is the problem and there seems to be little support until after the fact.

So sorry for these adorable little boys, their mother and the rest of the family that has to deal with this terrible loss.

Why is it that when some people have reached a point, so angry at someone else, you take it out on the innocent? Especially those intent on committing suicide and taking others with them? I will never understand.

Educate yourself. Guns are tools. The criminals who use them are the problem, not the gun.

How about let's talk about domestic violence. There is no real support from law enforcement until someone is really hurt. A 48 hour hold isn't always enforced, a restraining order is just a piece of paper and victims have no real means of escape unless they have money. Even then, most times, they are stalked and tormented by the abuser. Guns didn't kill these children, an out of control abuser did. Let's get that straight. I have lost a brother to domestic violence from an ex spouse who was abusive. And my father was abusive and his wife killed him. In neither instance did the gun jump out of the cabinet and shoot either of them on it's own. The guns were in the hands of people.

Will you please provide a source for that statement?

How awful. Unfortunately, blaming guns and recommending stronger gun control laws will not stop killers from killing. The gun didn't load itself, nor did it pull the trigger.
