Sheriff candidate added to Johnston County ballot

Unaffiliated candidate and former deputy Frankie Harrell has gathered the backing to earn place on the ballot in November when Johnston County voters choose a sheriff.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Unaffiliated candidate and former deputy Frankie Harrell has gathered the backing to earn place on the ballot in November when Johnston County voters choose a sheriff.

Harrell, 40, collected almost 4,000 signatures, according to the Johnston County Board of Elections.

He will face incumbent Sheriff Steve Bizzell, a Republican, and Gerry Mouzon, a Democrat who retired after a career with the state Highway Patrol.
