Johnston County, N.C. — Unaffiliated candidate and former deputy Frankie Harrell has gathered the backing to earn place on the ballot in November when Johnston County voters choose a sheriff.
Harrell, 40, collected almost 4,000 signatures, according to the Johnston County Board of Elections.
He will face incumbent Sheriff Steve Bizzell, a Republican, and Gerry Mouzon, a Democrat who retired after a career with the state Highway Patrol.
