Shearon Harris to test siren

— Progress Energy's Shearon Harris nuclear power plant will conduct a siren test on Tuesday.

The siren will go off at full volume around 10 a.m. as part of a routine test, officials said. The sound might be heard as far away as Apex, they said.

    I had no idea they were doing this today. Guess I missed the warnings. First thing I did when I heard it was search WRAL for "Shearon Harris test." Whew!
    It's one thing to know nuclear energy is safe and clean, and another to hear the siren go off at full volume when you don't expect it.
