Raleigh, N.C. — Shaw University's Board of Trustees announced on Thursday that Gaddis Faulcon has been appointed as the university's acting president.
Faulcon, formerly the dean of Shaw's College of Graduate and Professional Studies, became the acting president on Wednesday, succeeding former Interim President Dorothy Cowser Yancy.
Yancy retired on Dec. 31.
The board is continuing its national search for a permanent president, a process that began in September when Yancy announced her intentions to retire.
Aside from serving as a dean, Faulcon was also an associate professor of public administration. He has a bachelor's degree from St. Augustine's College and two graduate degrees from North Carolina State University.
“I am deeply committed to the mission and well-being of Shaw University," Faulcon said in a statement. "I am dedicated to moving it forward during this period of transition.”
