It would be interesting to know if the bike thief that was caught was caught due to the GPS locator. I bet he wasn't, however, I applaud NC State's commitment to catching criminals.

You won't find that kind of commitment at UNC-Chapel Hill.

"you must not know much about physics, rotational forces and wheel balancing"

At 15 mph an item in the rim of a 26" tire would experience a acceleration of approximately 16g. The wheel mounted TPMS sensors in late model cars survive accelerations several times that, so I don't think it is out of the question.

As far as wheel balancing goes, the bike isn't really mean to be ridden, so who cares? Slapping a nearly equivalent weight inside the other side of the tire would be sufficient.

"Get rid of the BB team and the problem will go away!" Wow, get rid of the baseball team? Thats funny!!

"where do they hide this thing, i mean it's not hard to see something like this and pass by to the next bike that doesn't have one."

Looks like it is small enough that you could hide it inside the tire.

Get rid of the BB team and the problem will go away!

As someone who had two bikes stolen in college, I love this idea. It doesn't matter how well you secure the bike, a determined thief can get by anything. I just hope the perps get more than a slap on the wrist after they get busted.

Don't steal bikes bro

If using it for a bike, it's cheaper to not buy this device and assume the risk that your item will get stolen.
