I liked that ad, plenty memorable and the dog barking the second time and walking away with the chips sold it!! And I understand how these folks get kudos from the ad community, but HOW is this a big deal for the Triangle?

Do you really suppose the people elsewhere care, or know, that the thing was produced here? C'mon, do any of you know where the rest of the ads were produced? And how does anyone not associated with the commercial derive connection, or importance? Maybe the next time we travel we can all tell people traveling around us,
    .
    .
"...I'm from the Triangle, the place where they shot that 'dog barking, Doritos commercial'...yep, that's where I'M FROM alright..."
    .
    .
This is the same as HS dropouts saying of UNC, Duke or NCSU, "....my schools team...". It's a stretch, at best to draw that affiliation. Here's a hint, that big brick house, with the two car garage and the boat, up on the corner, isn't "...your house...", because you regularly drive by it either.

    Raptor06 et al:

$133 million more of our dollars are going to print ads too.

    http://www.foxnews.com/slideshow/politics/2010/02/03/languages-census-poster.

    Who needs a grip?

  • Raptor06 Feb 8, 2010

"Did you all like the $2.5 million dollar taxpayer funded senseless Census commercial?! Personally I want my money back."

Get a grip. Do you REALLY think the government paid to have that ad broadcasted? Ever heard of a Public Service announcement?

Great Underdog commercial. Just goes to show that great things come from NC! I'm proud of our home talent.

  • Deacons Feb 8, 2010

I thought it was, without question, the best ad. Should have won first place.

  • krazykristie06 Feb 8, 2010

TO EVERYONE WITH THE ABUSIVE TO GET DOG BARK COMMENTS:

Yall are Crazy! I'm sure this dog was not used to wearing one of those collars b/c if he was used to it...he woulnd't even bark with the thing off!! This was obviously a trained dog to bark when it hears that wistle or whatever thing they use.

Anywho, this comercial was funny to me. But my favorite was the one where the little boy slaps his mom's boyfriend. LoL

  • ThinkChick Feb 8, 2010

Congrats to local talent. The Betty White commercial was great and the asteroid Bud Light commercial had funny moments.

Did you all like the $2.5 million dollar taxpayer funded senseless Census commercial?! Personally I want my money back.

  • 6079 SMITH W Feb 8, 2010

That dog! Its "Brian" from "Family Guy"!

  • time4real Feb 8, 2010

poor Peyton, "rub some dirt on it"!

  • godshelper Feb 8, 2010

We had the chance to watch this at the fire station when we were all on duty last night and we all laughed so hard. This was a great commerical. This is to anyone who thought that it was cruel to try and get the dog to bark.......get a life.

  • Desiderata Feb 8, 2010

Didn't watch game (couldn;t get it with "DISH NETWORK") but this was cute..Not much thought went into it though..boring really...

  • rescuefan Feb 8, 2010

"But it is true. It's kind of abusive to try to GET a dog to bark so it hurts itself.
    sunneyone"

That's true. And that's what makes the ad funny to me. He was trying to make the dog zap himself, but the dog was smarter than the guy and they guy gets zapped instead.

  • davidgnews Feb 8, 2010

The company is called 5 Point Productions with the proper URL here - http://www.5pointproductions.com

They are NOT called '5 Points Production ' (nor the URL) as listed in the sidebar. Way to go, editors.

  • momeeee Feb 8, 2010

Great job - funny commercial! Glad to see local talent recognized.

  • sunneyone Feb 8, 2010

Aw Hank, I wish there was a sarcasm button.

But it is true. It's kind of abusive to try to GET a dog to bark so it hurts itself.

  • ccsloop Feb 8, 2010

I thought the Google add was pretty good. Maybe a little subtle, sappy to win an award. Of course maybe it was a wste of money since the vast majority of people know about Google searcehs already.

  • maydaymanny Feb 8, 2010

    Congrats!

  • hank5049 Feb 8, 2010

Oh, so a boy defending his mom's honor is not funny but a man trying to abuse an animal is? sunneyone

i knew it would not be long before someone said that the man was abusing his dog!

  • hollylama Feb 8, 2010

Excellent commercial and quite fitting given the recent debate on "de-barking" dogs.

  • iamyeary Feb 8, 2010

IMO, anything that involves a dog seems to get more attention from viewers. That's why WRAL has Tracker..., but not everyone "must love dogs". Congrats.

  • smcallah Feb 8, 2010

"Great ad! However, if you were watching it via Time Warner Cable you most likely had picture issues. This lasted almost the entire first half of the game."

I was watching it in HD on Time Warner Cable in Raleigh and didn't see any such issue during any of the game.

  • For-Better-Or-Worse Feb 8, 2010

Great Job! Way to "show" the showgram!

  • sunneyone Feb 8, 2010

Oh, so a boy defending his mom's honor is not funny but a man trying to abuse an animal is?

I think all of the Doritos commercials were fairly funny. I also loved the Snickers ad with Betty and Abe, the ad with the whale in the truck, the ad with the sock monkey in the Hyundai and KISS/Little KISS.

  • wjcspanteach Feb 8, 2010

My personal favorite was the kid slapping the guy --- followed by Betty White, and the dog!

  • rescuefan Feb 8, 2010

"Yeah, the doritos commercial was hilarious...guy notices a dog is wearing a shock collar and tries to get the dog to bark for a dorito, thereby getting shocked....absolutely hilarious that trying to shock a dog can be that much fun!
    lilloan"

I'm guessing you didn't see where the dog took the collar off and put it on the guy and then barked? Karma in the best way, in my opinion. I found it very funny!

  • lilloan Feb 8, 2010

Yeah, the doritos commercial was hilarious...guy notices a dog is wearing a shock collar and tries to get the dog to bark for a dorito, thereby getting shocked....absolutely hilarious that trying to shock a dog can be that much fun!

  • rescuefan Feb 8, 2010

LOL. I wonder how many people who are saying that they didn't like the commercial are males.

  • prez23062 Feb 8, 2010

i think its great that a local group got the prize, but i was not impressed with the commercials as a whole this year. i too think the betty white snickers commercial was absolutely hilarious.

  • cpccarolyn Feb 8, 2010

    Congratulations - great job!

  • timothycapwell Feb 8, 2010

This ad wasn't funny at all.

  • wahaka63 Feb 8, 2010

What a nice clean, funny ad. Something the whole family could enjoy. As far as the kid slapping the adult what was funny about that. Guess that's what is wrong with our society, it's ok for violence of any kind. Most of the commercials were fine got a chuckle out of quite a few of them. Made for a wholesome evening with the family.

  • NCCaniac Feb 8, 2010

Just goes to show that it is hard to predict what people will like. Several people here said they thought the Underdog Doritos commercial was totally lame, but at the Super Bowl party I was at last night (approximately 50 people), that ad was considered either the first or second best ad by the majority of people there.

  • NCSU2004 Feb 8, 2010

I think all of the Doritos commercials won hands down... the Betty White one was good too. I don't think that Budweiser did all that great, I've seen much better from them.

I agree though, the Go Daddy commericals are getting pretty lame.

  • 007KnightRider Feb 8, 2010

Congratulations guys! One of the best commercials of the night!!

  • littlered83 Feb 8, 2010

This commercial was great! And the fact that a little company's commercial beat the larger companies commercials is awesome! #2 baby on the ad meter! Underdog is Top dog!!

  • fubar Feb 8, 2010

I'm happy for the local ad company, I guess, but my entire family thought that ad was among the worst all night. In fact I thought both of the Doritos ads were incredibly lame. We were talking about what an enormous waste of money that must have been, to create the ads and buy that time.

GoDaddy has kinda lost their edge, too, IMHO.

My votes would go to the ads by Bud, ETrade, and Snickers... not that anyone's asking :-)

  • houndsforme Feb 8, 2010

That was great! Hats off the to the team that put it together!

  • robertthompson Feb 8, 2010

Great ad! However, if you were watching it via Time Warner Cable you most likely had picture issues. This lasted almost the entire first half of the game.

  • fluffy11 Feb 8, 2010

Congratulations! This was my favorite ad from the Superbowl.

  • pmck Feb 8, 2010

    You guys ROCK! Congratulations!

  • nandud Feb 8, 2010

Betty White and Abe Vigoda in the Snickers commercial was my favorite, by far.

  • Brad Newman Feb 8, 2010

This commercial was lame. Looked like it was produced by a bunch of children. What "star power" was that guy talking about anyways? Was that the dog from Marley and Me?

  • happy Feb 8, 2010

Absolutely one of the best commericals! Congrats to the team!

  • rescuefan Feb 8, 2010

The underdog commercial cracked me up! I also liked the E-Trade ad and the Snickers ad with Betty White.

  • offconstantly Feb 8, 2010

ehhh, it was an average commercial, at best. the best one was the snickers one with betty white and the doritoes one with the guy getting slapped bye the little boy.
