Something tells me this was not a random event. Hopefully the law will get some answers.

  • TheLibertine Apr 10, 2009

Back in my day, we just toilet papered and egged the principal's house.

  • thought Apr 10, 2009

ok- so we know what vehicle to be looking for. time to step up and help out- if you see any fitting this discription- get a plate number and report it- if you have a car like this- if you are innocent- you have nothing to worry about.
    let's get this person (people)

  • barry333 Apr 10, 2009

WHEN THEY CATCH THE DEMONS THAT DONE THIS, THEY SHOULD MAKE THEM SIT IN THE SCHOOLS AUDITORIUM AND PUBLICLY APPOLIGIZE TO THE SCHOOL FOR HIS ACTIONS. THEN SIT THERE WHILE EVERY STUDENT LETS THEM HEAR WHAT THIS MAN MEANT TO THEIR SCHOOL.IN THE END IT IS PROBABLY A DISGRUNTLED PARENT WHOSE KIDS DID NOT GET TO DO THEIR NORMAL MISCHIEVIOUS DEEDS! HOPE THE PRINCIPLE GETS BETTER SOON!!

  • JustOneGodLessThanU Apr 10, 2009

Yeah. Thanks a lot, x3trig & lizard...maybe the principal is an illegal immigrant too...or a "real" alien from another planet who was being hunted by fellow aliens who like to use primitive earth weapons. We should withhold sympathy until we KNOW this ex-marine and school principal is really a stand-up guy...like both of you surely are. (that's sarcasm)

I just hope this great man doesn't lose his job...which would mean he'd lose his health insurance...and then have pre-existing condition...which would make it *ridiculous* to get more. (Yes, this is a plug for universal healthcare.)

  • x3trig Apr 10, 2009

Actually the Lizard guy uses his mind more than you all probably do. Its called a detective mindset. You think of ALL possibilities and rule them out as you go. He is just simply saying its a possibility. He is not insulting the guy for crying out loud. And how many times have you seen the people who least expect to do something awful actually do it. It happens everyday. Take it easy on the guy.

  • Boogalooboy Apr 10, 2009

Guess Lizard is "one toke over the line"

  • lorivalentine1 Apr 10, 2009

Hey Lizard - Are you speaking from your own experience or personal knowledge of the issue? As I see absolutely nothing in the article that even hints at what you are insinuating. This man is a hero in my book. He gave years of service to this country and now serves everyone as he teaches our children to be better people.

  • Jax is proud to be an American Apr 10, 2009

Well said Cocker Mom.... Lizard do you use your mind before you "speak"... He is a former Marine and a principle... give the guy some repsect.

  • news4u Apr 10, 2009

    Prayers sent up for him

  • diwanicki Apr 10, 2009

    Wishing for a speedy recovery.

  • cocker_mom Apr 10, 2009

Lizard - not nice. There's nothing about this person that would point to this being related to some illegal activity. Based on his job - he can't have a criminal record, and based on his service, he also deserves your respect.

The fact that he took time to let his students know he's going to be ok, speaks to his character.

  • lizard78 Apr 10, 2009

You still don't know who did this and why. Maybe he owed someone some drug money or something.

  • egh Apr 10, 2009

God Bless him, his family and the students of his school.

  • lharris75 Apr 10, 2009

Glad to know he is going to be OK... His students should be proud of his concern for them. We need more protection for our public servants!

  • Conservative Apr 10, 2009

Sir - I wish you the speediest recovery. Hats off to you that even in this condition, you were thinking of your students!

  • BruiserB Apr 10, 2009

Absolutely senseless. Prayers for his continued healing, that the person or persons who did this will be caught swiftly and charged appropriately. He is a man of great integrity, deserves the respect of all, and wish there were more like him.

  • cocker_mom Apr 10, 2009

    He's quite a guy.

I know his recovery will be difficult - but he seems to have the guts and determination to do it.

He's an inspiration - hope the students see this and don't let him down.

  • educ8or Apr 10, 2009

God bless him and his family. My prayers go out for a speedy recovery. What a lucky middle school.

  • homebrewer Apr 10, 2009

Sounds like a great principal. Hope he has a speedy recovery and those that are responsible are brought swiftly to justice

  • hearmeout Apr 10, 2009

Hats off to the heros that serve our country and to those that care enough to try and make a positive difference in the lives of our next generation! You are a true hero.

  • colliedave Apr 10, 2009

Hope his students take the message to disavow the lifestyle of the gangbanger(s) who shot him a presue their education so they can become productive citizens.

  • donnied1952 Apr 10, 2009

Now we have two local heros, this guy and the police officer from Carthage. For this man to get shot in the face, drive himself to hospital and now to be thinking of his students, now that's a strong man. A real man.

  • backwards Apr 10, 2009

Glad to hear he's gonna be ok. There's always that determination in people that have served their country.

  • FE Apr 10, 2009

I like this guy! The world needs more leaders like him.

Here's to a full and speedy recovery, and to a long jail sentence for the person(s) that assaulted him.

    OohRah !!

  • DeathRow-IFeelYourPain-NOT Apr 10, 2009

Sounds like this Middle School is very fortunate to have a Principal with such a strong will. This will make a difference in these kids' lives.

  • Killian Apr 10, 2009

Good for him. I hope he recovers fully and quickly.

  • 2thebeach Apr 10, 2009

I am so moved by this story; how generous of Principal Hunt to have the concern of his students at the top of his list during such a trying time. I hope his recovery goes well.
