I looked into the equal payment plan, and the number they came up with was higher than my monthly 1 year average. No thanks.

If Progress Energy will not help, the you can call the NC Utilities Commission at 919-733-9277 and make your complaint and they can often help. But this has to be done before a cut notice is given. If you call Progress Energy and they will not allow you a payment plan or option, then you can call them. But usually it helps if you have not been late or had cut-offs before and you are asking for reasonable help.

They do not care about their customers. They only want their money. The head of one of those comapnies makes $900,000 a year. No wonder we cannot afford the utility bills. I wonder what they are going to do as more people lose their jobs and the unemployment benefits run out. I wonder if the presidents and CEOs will take a pay cut. You can count on the fact that they will not.

Very true...Progress Energy WILL NOT work with you. They want the money you owe or they turn off you electricity. This article while somewhat helpful in providing agencies that help, is total malarky.

Exactly right! I lost my job and had a hard time paying my power bill. Progress Energy would not work with me whatsoever. I spoke to at least 5 or 6 different people, supervisors and managers, thinking I would eventually find a sympathetic person, but I got the same line of bull from every person. I was told I would receive the same info from every person. They were not interested in even listening to my problems. This is all spin from Progress Energy....total lies!

Don't believe a word that Progress-Energy says. They don't care what you say. All they want is money. If you call them their response will be that "they have lawyers on staff to deal with you". So basically they are bigger than you.
