Coupon Nana - good to see you back again! It is interesting to see the price differences. And I am glad you caught the lack of discount and asked for it to be applied. The issue may have been with self checkout.

TJ84 - good news on that last recyclebank coupon!

Maybe the difference was in self check out versus cashier check out?

The HT self check out on senior Thursdays had an automated screen age prompt (similar to the when buying alcohol age prompt) asking customer if he/she was eligible or qualified for a senior discount.

I generally use self check out.

The cashier attended check out may have had the same system age prompt; but, the cashier made the decision. And maybe sometimes the cashier made an incorrect decision? or selected the wrong answer. And seniors have always had to verbally request the senior discount at cashier checkout.

At Kroger, I believe their system automatically processes senior discount based on customer's age in customer profile and doesn't have a prompt.

Or this has been what I have observed in the stores I have shopped in.

It is good no one else has had this issue.

I once discovered after shopping that I'd been given the senior discount, though nothing was said about it at the register, and I'm not even close to qualifying. Maybe I looked older that day. I decided to be thankful rather than offended. ;-)

Just got the Recyclebank $10 off $50 coupon in the mail. I have always had to ask for the senior discount.

Coupon Nana, thank you for the birthday wishes! That's interesting about the previously automatic senior discount -- I always had to ask for mine.

I got $10 off $75 on today's evic email. Most of my shopping trips are in the $20 range these days, so I don't see myself using it either.

I also have the $10 off $100 in my HT e-mail this week, and also will not spend that much to use it.

I noticed there were no e-vic coupons with my e-mail. I got the $10 off $100 also Faye. I got some of my $10 off $50 coupons yesterday from Recyclebank but was short one. How long should I wait to see if the last one comes in the mail before I contact Recyclebank?

I received a $10 off $50 in my HT email. Differences are interesting.

Two of my items last week in weekend specials were each $1.00 less than others reported - the milk and variety pack. I am in Wake County.

Also, I now have to request the senior 5% Thursday discount at HT at least at the self-checkout.

It was automatic. I just happened to be paying attention when the computer system did not automatically provide the 5% automatic discount and I asked about it.

Hopefully, seniors are noticing and requesting it on Thursdays.

Possibly, the senior discount change has been posted already. I have been away and am catching up on posts. I may have missed some posts.

I am not shopping as much at HT these days. So many grocery store options in a short distance around me - and more coming ... Lidls in Raleigh and Wegmans in Cary. So many HT rule changes ...

Belated birthday wishes to jdouglas13. Sending prayers to GJAN1 for upcoming surgery. Good luck on your move, ASCHERER.

I received a note in my weekly HT eVic email that I have a coupon loaded for $10 off a $100 purchase. I never spend $100 at any grocery store so I will definitely not be using this coupon. Luckily, I have a $10 off $50 HT coupon from redeeming points on recyclebank.com that I can use instead. :-)
