    If it was a lone incident among the politically affiliated I might buy that but it is not.

    Generally Accepted Accounting Practice is the standard for financial record keeping and would audit this monthly at minimum. So no matter the method the people fell short. Call it bad planning, bad execution, whatever. Someone look the the dad-gum monthly financials.

    Unfortunately this information isn't exported from a piece of Accounting Software. It's manually entered into a spreadsheet and submitted. That's why it was missed.

    This is not a critical comment of either party but one for both.

    How many times do we see State/Local government and Politically affiliated organizations lose track of their monetary balances for so long and for such large amounts.

    Did no one even glance at the mid year financial report. Good lord you should have seen a 4 million dollar mistake from across the room.

    GAAP does not allow for months without verification of account funds. Does any politician even know what GAAP is? Does anyone in the entire system even give a crude about doing a complete job?
