"Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department, said that while authorities worried about Andre's welfare, his case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert, which requires a more specific description of the child and and a concrete belief that the child has been abducted and is in imminent danger."
Sounds nebulous, but in truth - without a picture, the description of a vehicle he might be taken in, etc. - what would they post on Amber Alert?
Still, you'd think there'd be some way with a child of this age missing, wouldn't you?
Prayers for him to be safe and found soon.

Quit asking for a picture.
The child is a 1-year old that is seriously underweight. If they didn't see fit to feed him, do you really think they cared enough to have a picture taken of this poor little guy?
I pray he is found safe, and soon.

May they find this little one safe and sound.

15 lbs at 1 yr old seems to me to have long been in imminent danger! Where was Child Protective Services???
scubagirl2 Apr 4, 5:11 p.m.
NEVER even implied it was an Amber alert, but if the public is to keep an eye out, should we just look at EVERY 15# black baby?
Wisdom50 Apr 4, 5:01 p.m.
Praying that the child will be found safe and placed with a loving care giver.
Obamacare returns again Apr 4, 4:58 p.m.
This isn't an Amber Alert....I mean, it's not like you're going to see a 1 year old kid running through your front yard so you can call police

Normally this would have been my reaction too, but not anymore in this day and age.

Praying for his safe return.
I think it is a good thing that WRAL posted this, even without a picture. Because perhaps someone who knows the family personally will know where the little boy is and they don't need a picture - just the names of the parents.

wow, ... just wow.
Naysayer Apr 4, 3:53 p.m.
Praying for the little guy, hope he is somewhere safe.

I wonder that too, but then because they're charged with neglect and the story says the 1-year old only weighs 15#, that may be due to lack of food, and if they didn't feed the kid well, maybe they never took a picture of the little guy either.
I pray he's ok.

15 pounds is on the small side, so unless this child was a preemie, this too may be a warning signal about his care. Hopefully he is in safe hands, but I fear that may not be the case or the parents would have told LEO where to find him and the child would not be 'missing'.
Walkin Man Apr 4, 3:05 p.m.
WRAL - great coverage....again.
scubagirl2 Apr 4, 2:54 p.m.
oh and yes, I did read the LEOs don't have a pic, but someone does.....
scubagirl2 Apr 4, 2:52 p.m.
a picture would be good, and DON'T tell me that because of his age it can't be shown. HOW is the public supposed to help when they have NO IDEA who they should be keeping an eye out for? But I do hope he's found swiftly and safe.
