Thank you Miss Kidd for taking that extra step. You saved a life.

  • DontVote4LiarsCheatsOrThieves Feb 11, 2014

Oh my goodness. What a blessing she was found in time. Prayers for her and many thanks to Kidd who acted quickly to notice and alert the authorities that something might be wrong.

Good example of small community caring about one another~the hairdresser calling family.

  • davido Feb 11, 2014

So what you're saying is... those of us who are "hair challenged" and don't get regular hair appointments are doomed!

  • Hope Lives Feb 11, 2014

C'mon people! She's not getting a weekly hair cut and I'm almost positive she's not paying anywhere near $50. She's just going once a week to get it styled like most old ladies do at her age. My mother in law is in her late 70s and goes every Weds for a style. She isn't paying $50 either....

    You are an Angel Helen!

  • Elizabeth Deaver Feb 11, 2014

I am glad she was found, but sad that she had to spend so much time alone in the cold. She looks much younger than 89 . . . she must be in great shape!

  • xylem01 Feb 11, 2014

    @KBIRD - Exactly. It's known as a Shampoo & Set.

Her hair, her money. FWIW my MIL is a retired hairdresser/cosmetologist she had regular customers for over 35 years that came at the same time every week. Unless they were on vacation/out of town.

what a brave lady!!thank GOD they found her in a happy ending...

  • 678devilish Feb 11, 2014

Just glad she was found and will be OK.

  • EricaSliver Feb 11, 2014

Oh my...poor lady. I'm surprised she was able to survive such cold conditions for so long. How fortunate that her hair stylist called her family. I'm thinking her family may want to get her a medical alert bracelet now...

That's crazy if that actually was her core temp at the time. Below 83 and your organs begin shutting down.

  • Kelly Birdsall Feb 11, 2014

I am so glad she was found & is safe! Justabill...ladies get their hair styled & set once a week when they are older. It's not a cut or something like that just a styling.

  • heelsgirl05 Feb 11, 2014

What a great story! I wish the media would report more positive stories like this one. Gloom and doom gets so old!

Sorry haircuts do NOT cost $50.00, maybe where you go

  • Janet Scott Feb 11, 2014

Justabill...cold statement. The hair appointment every week isn't really your call.

Leave her be. How is it any different than the luxuries anyone else takes? A $4 cup of coffee every morning, or a manicure, or the latest gadgets.

  • NCishome Feb 11, 2014

My Mom fell back the morning of November 2011 and broke her hip. The neighbor saw her dog and did not see her...she had attempted to drag herself so that she could be seen from the road. If it had not been for the dog who laid down beside her to keep her warm. The outcome would have been worst. She was found at 5pm. It took them over 6 hours to bring her core temp back up.

    Obviously not.

  • abwhite88 Feb 11, 2014

I'm sorry but with a core temperature at 72... you're dead.

  • xylem01 Feb 11, 2014

Shampoo and Set is usually 20 bucks.

Yours would too if you dropped 50 large every Friday.

  • Cabe Merritt Feb 11, 2014

    Her hair looks really nice.

  • JustaBill Feb 11, 2014

Lucky lady but a hair appt every week? Wow.

  • rougemontredneck Feb 11, 2014

    what an amazing lady!

  • Forthe Newssite Feb 11, 2014

What a lucky lady, and pretty hardy as well to have survived that. Glad she was found, kudos to the hair stylist for going out of her way.
