Actually, the government at Federal and State levels has been shrinking under this President. The largest expansion of government in history took place under GW Bush. Look it up.

  • veryfrustrated1 Jan 17, 3:21 p.m.

The explanation for the "Global Warming" HOAX comes to us straight out of obama's handbook, saul alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" - (pg 10) "A Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists".

  • veryfrustrated1 Jan 17, 2:57 p.m.

There are only 2 groups of people in our country that STILL fully support obama at this stage of his presidency. They are RACISTS & those who are marxists in support of his wealth redistribution schemes!!!

How exactly does the saying go? I seem to recall it is "there are no atheists in foxholes, once the shooting starts", and I think that I heard something like gun fire. Of course, PLEASE feel free to correct the quote and attribute it to its original author for historical accuracy, from the leftist perspective. THANK YOU!

"But, did he set the stage for my industry to make a resurgence?" I'm curious about just what industry that is. The only "industry" I'm aware of that has really been growing during the 0bama years is government.

"It depends upon which history books you study. Historians are typically Left-Wingers and are notorious for historical revisionism. This is why Athiestinafoxhole statements are incorrect as are so many others."

You DO realize that "logical reasoning" requires empirical evidence to build a conclusion based on a premise, right? Since you have based your conclusion purely on an unsubstantiated "value judgement", which you have not even attempted to provide factual support for - it seems that you are far less the "logical dude" than the "illogical dude."

You could have simply have said, "uh uh" and it would have the same value in this discussion.

I lived through the Reagan years, so what, for you, may be "book learnin", for me was LIVE. Whether history is written by "left or right" wingers is arguable, but that it IS written by the victors, is not in dispute. So, if you wish to rewrite history - you must first win.

Obama's net worth has gone up by 853% in the last 5 years, has your's gone up at all?

    — Posted by A person

Don't know about my net worth, but with W my husband lost his job, and the industry we both work in suffered huge loses. Five years into the Obama Presidency and the hubs is work, making more than he did before and our collective income has doubled. Was that all Obama? Of course not-we are both highly educated and good at what we do. But, did he set the stage for my industry to make a resurgence? Why yes-yes he did. You want jobs back? Talk to your GOP friends who own the companies that shipped the jobs overseas in the first place. I would much rather pay a little more for something, know it was made by an American who is paid a living wage then to get more junk stuff from overseas sweatshops.

Wide band gap semiconductors are not a boondoggle. Cree and others have been working for years to develop these, making significant progress. Critical applications include utility power switching, control of motors, and even computers that are smaller that don't need huge cooling systems.

Is government funding this a boondoggle? Of course it is. Fully half of the NCSU money will be lost to overhead, and a stifling federal and state bureaucracy to keep up with reporting requirements. The half that remains will hopefully be used effectively, but I don't hold much hope that any more than 10-20% will be spent well.

Anyway, most of this technology will be developed using foreign grad students (few US students go to grad school). The tech will then be taken back to China and they will market it without regard to patents.

  • lessismore Jan 16, 9:43 a.m.

What was the real reason Obama was in NC yesterday. I assure you it has nothing to do with helping create jobs. It's another campaign speech....nothing else. Throw money he doesn't have.

If he is really interested in creating new technology for video games he should be talking to the private sector....where almost everything is created. Again, he has it backwards.

Just look back at the 2009 cap & trade legislation that fortunately did not pass. It already had provisions in it for using technology to enforce government limits on residential energy use. So yankee1, you just might need to keep the tinfoil hat to reflect the microwaves intended to operate the proposed switching devices. By the way, these are the same microwave switches that the electric utilities currently use to turn off AC units during peak demand.
